About the role

We are looking for someone who will introduce the company to the B2B market and commercial projects — and stay close to the clients they bring in. You open the door and then keep it open. You will approach new clients — through phone outreach, networking, industry events and referrals — but the job does not end with the first sale. You build the relationship, understand how the client operates and grow the account over time. The role covers two distinct sales cycles: stable, recurring IT services and bespoke artificial intelligence and automation projects.

What you will do

Introduce the company to new corporate clients and start conversations where we are not yet known: phone outreach, networking, industry events and referrals.
Identify and qualify opportunities across commercial projects: IT services, infrastructure and cloud, cybersecurity, hardware, as well as artificial intelligence and process optimisation projects.
Conduct needs discovery, prepare proposals together with the technical teams and ensure that the scope being sold is the scope that is ultimately delivered.
Develop the accounts you bring in: more services, more users and follow-on projects.
Maintain an active relationship with the existing client base and identify new needs.
Act as the client’s commercial point of contact and as the escalation point when something affects the relationship.
Maintain the CRM consistently: pipeline, contacts, history, next steps and revenue forecasting.

What you will bring

At least 3 years of experience in B2B sales within IT or technology, with experience both in acquiring new clients and managing them over the long term.
Confidence in initial outreach: phone prospecting, networking and leveraging referrals, without relying on ready-made leads.
Understanding of the managed services model: per-user subscriptions, plan tiers, SLAs, what is included in the monthly service and what is billed as a separate project.
Ability to comfortably discuss cloud and Microsoft 365, networks, endpoint security and backup in terms of business value — without needing to be an engineer.
Experience in consultative / solution selling: needs analysis, quantifying value and building proposals together with a technical team.
University or technical higher education degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Marketing or a related field.
Excellent Greek and very good English.
Driving licence and availability for client visits within Attica.

What we consider a plus

Experience in an MSP or a company with recurring revenue.
Experience selling cybersecurity solutions or compliance projects (GDPR, NIS2).
Experience promoting hardware — servers, networking equipment and endpoints.
Ability to recognise where a process can be automated or supported by AI and communicate the opportunity effectively to the technical team.
Experience with the public sector and public bodies: tenders, ESIDIS and funded programmes.
Knowledge of our markets: transport, logistics, smart cities and energy.

Open Standards: A Shared Language for Humanity’s Next Chapter – By Alex Papacharalampous

I have been arguing, for a good part of my career, for the use of open standards. Open standards are a common language for describing an asset. In the cities, this can be the schedules of Public Transport or the Post Codes. It can be simple or complex and in different domains, health, logistics, maritime, and legislation, but the underlying idea is the same, that our world is data, and these data require a common and universally understood representation.

Imagine if I gave you longitude and latitude instead of my address, this would be hard for you to navigate. Or imagine if legislation was published in a different format each time. This would be so confusing trying to understand where everything is. That is the thing! When we build standards, we start building with them. The form of the standard creates a common space where we create things. Because building with standards creates a common understanding of how things are and should be described – It’s clear that standards make our work easier.

And if we understand something, that also means that we can decide on how it should work, we can optimize and synergize. We link companies and organizations through data and use our ingenuity to create new tools and services. This is empowered by standards as the common language, for example, remuneration from delays, optimizing logistics, creating Artificial Intelligence modules for aviation and so many more. These tools should work for all and not just one if they are to truly work! Synchronize all schedules, use AI for all airports.

But why open? Imagine if you needed to pay money to use the English language, wouldn’t that be something awful! If that was the case, people would opt for other cheaper and universal languages as the standard. Open Standards are the only way to move forward for long-term implementation.

We are basing our work on Open Standards because it makes sense, from societal and professional perspectives. And we should advocate for them whenever we can not only for the economic gains they bring but also because they are sustainable!

Rethinking Passenger Safety at Sea: What We Learned from HS4U – by Alex Papacharalampous

What if a ship could predict passenger movement in a health crisis and respond in real time to keep everyone safe?

At AETHON Engineering, this question guided our work on the HS4U project, a major EU initiative aimed at designing safer, smarter cruise ships for the post-COVID era. Having led the work on Technical Research (WP3) and Data Protection, we took on one of the project’s most critical challenges: understanding how passengers behave during emergencies and how that behaviour can guide smarter ship design and crisis response.

Predict to Protect: The Passenger Behavioural Model

Our team developed a data-driven Passenger Behavioural Model, combining real-life experiments, onboard simulations, and ship topology data.

Using AI and behavioural science, the model identifies patterns in how people navigate ship spaces like corridors, restaurants, elevators, or cabins in both normal and high-stress conditions. These insights power real-time simulations and feed into HS4U ecosystem, enabling automatic reconfiguration of spaces, better crew response, and targeted health protocols.

The results speak for themselves:

80% accuracy in passenger movement prediction
Real-time integration with onboard AI systems
Scalable design for multiple ship layouts

Beyond Prediction: A Step Toward Safer Ships

This model is a cornerstone for a new era of passenger-centric safety. By forecasting behaviour, ships can adapt their response before chaos sets in from directing traffic away from infection zones to adjusting HVAC systems or isolation protocols automatically.

HS4U proved that smart design is not only possible, it’s necessary. And the Passenger Behavioural Model is one step closer to ships that think ahead.

Why Building a Truly Smart City Starts with Human-Centered Automation – by Alex Papacharalampous

Dealing with the term Smart City is trickier than one might think. A smart city must be inclusive, digitally empowered, interconnected and interoperable, which is a common theme for anything “smart”. However, a city has so many components that are so diverse and different to each other that makes this term, “Smart Cities” so elusive. We have all seen many cities where one aspect is smart, e.g., traffic lights, and another is truly not so smart, e.g., waste collection. In other words, creating a Smart City is about bridging heterogeneous aspects to achieve a singular thing: automation.

Conceptualizing automation for a city, is a hobby of mine and of everybody I know; we are all so happy to get into a tiring activity with a public office and then whining and proposing to our friends how it could have been automated, especially “in our times”. Standing however from the city perspective, as an engineer, I understand how complex this process is. So many data flows, requirements, opinions and needs must be aligned to deliver a Smart City.

We should always start with a concept, and for AETHON and our design team, this concept is Industry 5.0. The fifth (point 0) industrial revolution discusses components in a process that are not only cyber-connected but automated. Machines handle repetitive and mundane tasks while humans intervene when machines cannot complete a task. This collaboration between human and machine is co-robotics or human-in-the-loop, and while the two terms are not the same, they represent one common theme, that we need to define how people handle and manage the automation.

A Smart City needs to be just that, a concept for human interaction with smart systems that increase safety and efficiency of the city. These concepts are carefully handled by AETHON Engineering to achieve sustainability for cities, regions and neighborhoods, providing new paradigms in transport, energy and logistics.
