AETHON is an engineering SME working on innovative and cutting-edge technology products for smart cities, transportation, mobility, logistics, and energy. We take pride in our forward thinking and enjoy out-of-the-box ideas and solutions. We are currently looking for an equally forward-thinking Data Scientist, that will work in the awarded Data Science department of AETHON and the AI Lab, will participate in the formulation of new projects and will contribute technically to the products of AETHON.

Your goals:

  • Work alone or as part of a team to execute projects’ envisioned work;
  • Prepare and submit projects’ deliverables in a timely fashion;
  • Design and develop modelling and engineering tools that will be integrated in the products of the company and/or used as part of analysis of its projects;
  • Prepare and present the outcomes of your work clearly;
  • Engage partners and customers to ensure that requirements are met and feedback is documented, negotiated and incorporated;
  • Execute data analytics activities across all sectors of the company;
  • Actively engage and take initiative during the technical writing of proposals and tenders.

What we are looking for in candidates:

  • MSc (or equivalent) or PhD in a field relevant to applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering;
  • Years of industry experience:
    • (mid) ≥ 5 years’ experience in a relevant position;
    • (junior) Some years of experience at any position that involves data engineering/science;
  • Knowledge of programming languages:
    • (mid) Proven knowledge of Python at professional level and familiarity of another OOP programming language at professional or academic level;
    • (junior) Proven knowledge of a programming or scripting language at academic or professional level;
  • Proven knowledge of (mid)/Familiarity with (junior) Machine Learning/Deep Learning algorithms and frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow), generative AI models, techniques and toolbox, such as, usage of proprietary LLMs APIs, hugging face library;
  • Knowledge or experience of statistics, data analysis and data visualisation tools;
  • Proven experience working in mid or large software engineering projects;
  • Excellent knowledge and usage of the English language;
  • Analytical thinking;
  • Exquisite verbal and written communication skills;
  • (mid) Able to work with minimum supervision both independently and as part of a team;
  • A collaborative attitude, team spirit and out-of-the-box thinking.

What we consider a plus:

  • Knowledge of designing/implementing or working under Agile project management schemes;
  • Proven research experience demonstrated with conference or journal publications;
  • Contribution to open-source software;
  • Proven knowledge of Java (at academic or professional level).
